St Margaret's Institute
Community Centre

30 Polstead Road, Oxford

Oxford Times 21 May 2004 -  £55,000 aid to buy 'beacon of light'

We have raised over £510,000.... and our appeal is now closed.

Lease Appeal Success:
Following the Annual Ball on 8 March 2008 and a further significant donation, our target has been reached!
Many thanks to all who have helped to secure the long term future of the Community Centre!
The final payment
for the 999-year lease was made to St John's College on 20th March 2008.
Further fund-raising within our current plans and budget has enabled us to repay the to City Council the £30,000 loaned to us.

Phase 3 improvements
Any surplus and the proceeds of our further fund-raising will be applied towards improving the fabric and facilities at the Institute.

Our ongoing plans include:
A subsequent appeal in summer 2008, to raise £3500 for a memorial window, to celebrate the life of Humphrey Carpenter, has now been successfully concluded, and the window was unveiled on 4 October 2008.

For information, our appeal costs (expressed as a percentage of our appeal income), have been:
y/e 31 Dec
2005: 1.18% 2006: 2.04% 2007: 1.86%

We meet all the appeal costs from the revenue account of the Community Centre,
so every penny of each  donation goes towards the appeal.
The generosity of those who picked up some of the uncharged costs
should not be overlooked and is much appreciated.
