Please note that there is very limited parking!
There are two disabled parking bays outside the Institute and limited 2 hour parking in Polstead Road and St Margaret's Road. Resident permit restrictions on certain parking bays end at 18.30.
If coming from out of town it is best to use the Pear Tree Park and Ride service on the north side of the city and catch the #300 bus which goes into town along the Woodstock Road. Get off at the Canterbury Road stop (ask the driver). Cross the main road and walk back up the Woodstock Road crossing Farndon Road and St Margaret's Road. Finally turn left into Polstead Road. St Margaret's Institute is on the right at the bottom of Polstead Road.
This journey can take 30 minutes from the Park and Ride so leave plenty of time.
From the rail station you can catch a #17 Bus from the R5 stop outside the station building. This will take you up Walton Street, which turns into Kingston Road. Ask the driver to tell you when to get off for St Margaret's Church, then walk a short distance along Kingston Road (the bus turns into St Margaret' Road) to the next junction. Polstead Road is on the right, and the Institute is just up Polstead Road next to the Anchor Inn which is at the junction.
From Magdalen Street you can also catch the more frequent service up Woodstock Road - bus #6. Get off at the St Margaret's Road stop (ask the driver), continue up Woodstock Road, following the bus, to Polstead Road. Turn left into Polstead Road. St Margaret's Institute is on the right at the bottom of Polstead Road. This journey takes about 10 minutes from Magdalen Street.
