Gardens Open 7 gardens were generously opened on a lovely sunny afternoon on Saturday 13th June. Teas were served in the front rooms at SMI. The total raised amounted to £1035, which will contribute to the cost of improvements planned for the front garden of SMI. Many thanks to those who opened the gardens and those who helped on the day. Join the new 'Friends of SMI' click here for details our new group - to maintain contact with the 800 or so people who have supported us and to welcome newcomers with modest subscriptions. or The 400 Club which remains open to membership for anyone who wishes to contribute £1,000 or more (with or without Gift Aid) to the Institute. SMI contributes to local youth work project At its recent meeting, the Management Committee agreed to contribute £10,000 (over 5 years) to support youth work in the nearby Waterways canal-side development. 120th Birthday Celebration and Friends of SMI Event this will take place on 3 October 2009. 10am to 12.30 pm The Friends (evening) event is being planned and we hope it will take the form of a Victorian evening soiree with contemporary style catering...
